Improving services for people with gastrointestinal disease
We have been working to improve services for people with gastrointestinal disease (or disorders of the digestive system). We held a workshop in April which patients and patient representatives attended as well as doctors, dieticians, nurses, pharmacists and other therapists and agreed what we wanted to focus on.
As a result we are setting up virtual clinics for stable patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) which will mean less unnecessary trips to hospital and more flexibility and convenience for patients
In the New Year we are planning to have live interactive webinars for patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) which will be run by dieticians and will provide lots of really useful advice on how to manage their condition and how they can get extra help.
We’ve also put together some tools to help GPs manage patients with a range of gastrointestinal problems and support them to stay healthy and better manage their conditions themselves.
Next year we will be focusing on some different conditions including liver disease and gall stones and if you would like to be part of our group and help shape future care please get in touch by emailing email@example.com
