The Ockenden Report
We have created a summary of Frimley's response to the first Ockenden report, an independent review into the maternity services at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust: Frimley Health Maternity: Actioning Ockenden
You may have seen coverage of the report in the national media. For many, this would have been an upsetting and difficult watch.
We at Frimley Health Maternity are deeply saddened by the findings. It is crucial to keep all the families who bravely contributed to the review, many of whom suffered avoidable loss and devastation, at the forefront of why this review matters so much.
The first report published in December 2020 provided all maternity services across England with 7 Safety Actions. We fully embraced all of these and we’re very pleased to be performing well against the standards highlighted in the report. However, we will always continue to strive to be safer and better because we know all our families deserve this. The final report published in March this year now provides all Trusts in England with an additional 15 Safety Actions. We are in the process of checking that we meet these as well.
We’re working hard with our wide range of partners, including our Maternity Voices Partnership as representatives of the families in our care, to continue to improve the services we offer to our population and ensure we deliver the highest quality, safest care.
