Frimley Health and Care Flying the Flag at launch of new Apprenticeship Scheme

Coinciding with National Apprenticeship Week - 4-8 March 2019 - Frimley Health and Care ICS has launched an exciting new apprentice scheme.

The brand new scheme has been designed as a ‘rotational’ programme; a completely new and innovative approach, that allows apprentices to have broader exposure to health and social care career opportunities.

Nikki Morgan, Learning and Development Manager, who leads the apprenticeship programme on behalf of the ICS said,” We’re very excited about this new scheme. We’re now able to offer all people the opportunity to experience career opportunities in both health and social care organisations.  The programme has been designed with the support of ICS partners’ – future employers of the apprentices - and is a great example of the benefits of ICS system-wide working.”

Adverts are out now encouraging applications for up to 15 positions for the first Rotational Apprentice scheme commencing in April 2019.

After an initial induction, the apprentices will then obtain their Care Certificate, and then commence the 15 month training period with selected health and social care organisations, including Frimley Healthcare and Berkshire Healthcare for NHS care, and Slough Borough Council and Optalis for adult social care.

The apprenticeship scheme is open to all.  There are no upper age limits, and applications are welcomed from people from all sections of society.

Nikki Morgan added: “We want to encourage anyone who might be looking to change careers, or who wants to start a career in health and social care to apply.  This scheme is a great way to launch a new career, and there are countless opportunities for anyone interested in working in health and social care.  Successful completion of the apprenticeship also leads to obtaining a nationally recognised qualification.”

As a further incentive to encourage applications, each apprentice will also be guaranteed the offer of a full- time job on completion of their 15 month placement.
